Signs of Embryonal Implantation In IVF

The embryo transfer procedure is the last and the most critical step of in vitro fertilization. The embryo transfer procedure ia a painless method and usually takes 5 minutes. Because the transfer should be performed under sterile conditions, it is carried out under operating room conditions. One of the most frequently asked questions is whether a rest period is necessary. Our patients undergoing embryo transfer in our clinic can put on their clothes and return home after the procedure because evidence indicates that rest periods do not increase the chance of establishing pregnancy.

Signs of Embryo's Attachment to the Uterus

We perform a pregnancy test in your blood sample 12 days after the embryo transfer to check whether the pregnancy is established. Until day 12, it is not possible to receive a positive pregnancy test result in the blood sample. Some of our hasty patients cannot wait for having the test on day 12 but early pregnancy tests yield a negative result and cause them to become upset. No signs of pregnancy will occur until the pregnancy test on day 12. Again, symptoms such as mild abdominal pain, nausea, low back pain, and fatigue experienced by some of our patients are not indicative of pregnancy. Implantation bleeding is not expected after embryo transfer. During the embryo transfer into the uterus; we visualize the site, where we leave the embryo by ultrasonography. However, the embryo can implant at a different site. Beta HCG is the hormone, which we monitor the establishment and course of pregnancy in the expectant mother. Perhaps the most challenging part of in vitro fertilization is the period during which the pregnancy test results are awaited after the embryo transfer. A positive pregnancy test indicates that the embryo is attached, that is, the test-tube baby has implanted. From that point on, we accept the patient as pregnant and inform her about what needs to be done during the first period of pregnancy.

After embryo transfer, we recommend our patients to avoid fatty foods, eat little and often, sleep regularly and adequately, walk in winter, swim in summer, and avoid alcohol and smoking.

What is Beta HCG?

Beta HCG hormone ensures that the production of progesterone hormone by the body is sustained. This hormone is an indicator of pregnancy. Beta HCG secretion starts after the implantation of the embryo to the mother's uterus.

Beta HCG hormone sustains the production of progesterone hormone by the body. Progesterone the hormone that prevents miscarriages.
